Does anyone else find it strange that in those Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials the background music is "Sweet Home Alabama??"
Just wondering.

Amazing Grace video
I found this video on somebody else's blog. Chris Tomlin's version of "Amazing Grace" was my favorite song on his new CD the very first time I heard it. I was pretty excited when I saw this video.

Christmastine's Day Presents
Yes, I said "Christmastine's Day." That's what I call the very late Christmas presents that I sent to my friends in OK, TN, and GA. I didn't get them done in time for Christmas, then January came and went, and the presents arrived at their houses just in time for Valentine's Day. Hence the name.
My weekend
I had yet another fun weekend with my Oklahoma buddy, Jamie. She and her daughter came to visit. Kaelin and Mazie played together all weekend long. Kaelin *loved* having a friend at her house. I loved having my friend at my house, too!! : )

I took Jamie to the David Crowder*Band concert in Houston on Saturday night. It was my birthday present to her. Even though there's a missing person that I miss terribly, we had a wonderful time! Their set list was different than when they were on the Wherever You Are tour...we got to hear, "Undignified," "Open Skies," and a couple of others that I hadn't heard in a while. We had some nice conversation before and after the show...it was really good to see them (the Crowders) again.
And it was great to spend some time with Jamie. Can't wait to see you again, girl! : )
Here's the one and only picture we took together this weekend...not the best picture we've ever taken together, but it's a great memory!

Yep, it is.
Life is good. I say that very phrase every so often and I think it at least once a day. Last Saturday Cole and I went to Wimberley for an overnight getaway. Wimberley is a little town south of Austin that's very picturesque and the main attraction is shopping. I don't mean like shopping mall shopping, I mean those little shops that sell everything from antiques to gourmet dog biscuits. We had enjoyed the day quite a bit and had been to pretty much every shop in town and I really hadn't seen much that I was terribly impressed with. Then we went in this one shop (I can't remember the name) and there was a little room off to the side full of these incredibly cute t-shirts and night shirts and coffee mugs, etc. I had never seen them before. They were very simple and very unique. The brand name on these items was "Life is Good." I saw about 5 t-shirts that I wanted as well as a couple of coffee mugs. As well as pajamas and clothes for the kids!! I walked away with 1 t-shirt and the website for this company so I could get some more stuff!! I went to the website and it turns out they sell way more than what that store carries. I'm trying to decide what I will get next. Cole is a little bit nervous because when I like something, I really like it and tend to go overboard just a bit. ; )
Check out the website when you can...it's great stuff!! : )

Justice Frog
We had just finished saying the "Pledge of Allegiance" this morning at school. The little boy sitting next to me (who happens to be the same one that drew Spongebob on the Ark and said, "Duh" to me a couple of months ago) looked at me and as serious as he could be, asked, "Who's Justice Frog?"
You know..."with liberty and justice for all." Apparently justice for all sounded like Justice Frog to him.
It was so hard for me not to laugh at that...it's just so cute! But I held it back and told him what the words really are.
And tomorrow when we get to the end of the Pledge, all I'm going to be thinking is "Justice Frog." : )

Don't Cry Over Spilt...
ketchup. I dropped a 50 ounce (brand new) bottle of ketchup on my kitchen floor. The plastic ketchup bottle was no match for my tile floor. When the bottle hit the floor, it took out a pretty good chunk of it...and spewed ketchup on my wall and pantry door, not to mention the huge pile of ketchup that I had to clean up off the floor. It was lovely. I now have a water bottle in my fridge that is about half full of the ketchup that was still left in the bottle.
This all happened at lunchtime...while I was making my Boca burger (you've got to have ketchup to eat one of these things) and getting ready to go run some errands - with Collin and Alex (the 2 year old that I watch) in tow. I considered for a moment that maybe the dropped ketchup bottle was some sort of sign that I shouldn't attempt the shopping trip with the 2 small boys, but I went on and left the house as planned. When I heard, "Marie Laveau" on the radio I knew the day was going to be okay. I haven't heard that song in years. Funny song. And Collin and Alex were pretty good while we were out. They never stopped making noise, but they were good. : )

He's Cute
Last night I was sitting with Brendan, helping him do something, and we were chatting. We were talking about school and I made a joke about how the little girls probably think he's cute. This is fun for me because he is not the least bit interested in girls (and he shouldn't be at 9 years old) and his reaction to me saying this is always different...and funny! But last night he told me that one little girl thinks he's cute. So of course I asked who. He said it's a little girl named Emma in another 3rd grade class. It seems that his friend, Zachary, from cub scouts last year was instructed to tell him that Emma thinks he's cute.
I'm not so sure that I was ready to hear that. I mean, I know Brendan is adorable, but I'm just not sure that I'm ready for the 9 year old female population to notice that. It seems way to soon. They're just 3rd graders! I don't remember noticing any boys (except Andy Gibb) when I was in 3rd grade!! Oh how times have changed!!
And I found out in Sunday school a couple of Sundays ago that it's common for a 3rd grader to have a cell phone. A cell phone! In 3rd grade! What 9 year old really *needs* a cell phone?? These kids are growing up way too fast.
Today we're going back to that park that I posted about a couple of posts ago. Brendan will climb on the playscape, play Hide and Seek with his brother and sister, and maybe go "fishing" again. And he'll have a great time...even with no cell phone.

Guest of Jesus
This morning at church Brendan was sitting beside me filling out a visitor card just like he does every Sunday...even though we're not visitors. Sometimes he writes silly things in the blanks, but today he was being serious. When he got to the blank that said, "I came as a guest of" he wrote, "Jesus." I thought it was both cute and kind of deep for a 9 year old. I had never really thought of church that way.
I snagged the visitor card and scanned it. It's been Photoshopped a little, but you can see where he wrote Jesus. : )
